Sermon word count guide
How many words should a sermon be?
A sermon, Bible study, devotional, message, or ministry talk can vary widely depending on speaking speed and delivery style. Use these ranges as planning estimates, then use the calculator for a more personalized result.

Why sermon length is hard to estimate
A sermon is shaped by more than word count. Scripture readings, pauses, transitions, illustrations, prayer, application, and room response can all affect the final time. A 4,000-word manuscript may fit neatly into a 30-minute slot for one preacher and run closer to 38 minutes for another.
